Below you will find my initial design review for Design Concept 1. A second round of FEA on all components will be conducted to determine how best to proceed in terms of refining the working models. The columns on the right show how many design requirements have been met so far.

Note: red boxes indicate requirements that are yet to be met and grey boxes indicate requirements that cannot be tested due to limitations imposed on the design process by the ongoing unavailability of prototyping facilities. Orange/yellow boxes indicate the partial completion of a requirement.

You can see that requirement 6 has been greyed out, this is because it cannot be tested in due to the unavailability of all prototyping facilities. For this reason, the durability of the device will not be able to be tested. FEA results have revealed that the grippers are as of yet unable to withstand working forces and so requirement 1 has also been left unsatisfied at the end of this design phase.

Outstanding issues with the device in this stage of development that need to be resolved for the device to meet the requirements as set out in the PDS:

- No tool-free method of fastening the two halves of the enclosure to each other (not essential).

- No bottle-opening function.
