Blog Post 14: Concept 2 - Design Review 1

Below you will find my initial design review for Design Concept 3. A second round of FEA on all components will be conducted to determine how best to proceed in terms of refining the working models. The columns on the right show how many design requirements have been met so far.

Note: red boxes indicate requirements that are yet to be met and grey boxes indicate requirements that cannot be tested due to limitations imposed on the design process by the ongoing unavailability of prototyping facilities. Orange/yellow boxes indicate the partial completion of a requirement.

As seen in the first design review for Concept 1, one critical requirement left unfulfilled at this stage was a tool for opening bottles, the other being an ergonomic contact surface on the top section to better fit the user’s palm.

To do:

• Incorporate bottle-opening function into the bottom section (redesign grippers?).
