Blog Post 19: Concept 1 - Design Review 2

Here is the second design review for Concept 1:

Change log:

• The handle is now detachable and is fastened via a key-lock mechanism.

• A bottle-opening tool has been added to the end of the handle.

• Total material reduction since last design review = 9.6%.

Next steps:

• Although the mass of the model is already significantly less the maximum stated in the PDS, further material reduction could be applied, especially to the handle attachment/main body (FEA on these components needs to be carried out to determine where material is obsolete).

• A low-profile gear dowel that runs from the top cover to the driving gear needs to be added as well as suitable bearings (roller?).
