Blog Post 6: First CAD Model

After choosing concept 1 as the design I want to take to the prototyping stage, it was time to create a working CAD model (see below). I am awaiting confirmation as to when the housing and handle can be 3D printed, the gripping mechanism (rack and pinion) will most likely be machined as they will need to endure considerable stress.

Note: recent developments regarding the Coronavirus mean that I may not be able to access the fabrication/printing facilities at the uni for the foreseeable future, check back for updates soon.
