Blog Post 24: FEA 3 For Design Concept 3 - Jar Gripper

This is the third round of FEA I have carried out on the main jar gripper component after extensive material reduction. You can see where I have removed material from the inside of the model's geometry where non-essential. The results were taken after a considerable amount of material (22%) was removed from the body gripper’s internal geometry and it is clear to see that this did not compromise the component’s strength under working conditions. These optimisations will have to be the final design changes made to this component for the duration of the project as the potential for developing a design of this nature any further is ultimately dependant on results from real-world testing, the attainment of which have been made impossible by the COVID pandemic.
